1- it shows you what muscles the yoga poses target. If there's an area you want to focus more on, it's so easy to do.
2- it explains breathing. Not just breathing exercises, but also the breaths you take while in other yoga poses.
3- it has the Indian names of the poses. As an Indian-American, this is important to me that any instruction stay true to it's roots.
4- many poses have various positions (first, second, third) corresponding to novice, intermediate, advanced. So you can develop & continue to strengthen your core.
5- it comes with big pictures and descriptive text. Once you have practiced the poses regularly, the pictures are enough to guide you in your daily program.
6- it has an area that focuses on posture.
7- it has separation based on what it helps with; for example, an area of the book to help with mobility.
